Where to start?

To start, you want to understand when and how to harvest the wheatgrass to get the tastiest fresh juice you can. You want to extract your wheatgrass juice from young wheatgrass.

For the absolute best wheatgrass juice you would want to harvest when the plant is around about 6 inches tall, any taller and it could be spoiled.

When you are cutting you want to chop right above the roots. This will ensure that the plant will grow back for future harvests.

Traditional juicers won’t juice wheatgrass properly. When processing wheatgrass at home you want to pick up a juicer that is made to break up the fibers of this plant.

You want a juicer that presses the grass rather than grinds. A masticating juicer are the best route to go when making wheatgrass juice.

  • Wash a quarter cup of wheatgrass, or how ever much you want to make. One quarter cup will come out to a shot of juice.
  • Now, chop the wheatgrass into smaller chunks. This allows the masticating juicer to do optimal work.
  • Remeasure to assure that you have at least a quarter cup. Mass changes when altered.
  • After this prep is done it is time to toss you wheatgrass into the masticating juicer.

Time to juice!

There are two different methods of juicing. I would like to take the time and explain both of them for you. Both are very easy, it honestly is just a matter of preference.

Method 1 – The Juicer

This is very simple. You want to start by putting the grass into the juicer and the measurements you’ve decide, or the ones the manufacture has listed.

After you press the grass you want to catch the juice in a cup.

A word of advice, if you run the grass through the juicer twice, you get the most juice you can get for every batch. Simply said, simply done.

Method 2 – The Blender

This method has a few more steps, but overall it is as easy as the first method. Some claim that the blender isn’t the superior of methods, but it does get the job done.

First off, you want to add the grass that you previously prepped, with enough water to allow the grass to become a liquid, into the blender.

Second, click blend. Allow the blender to work just long enough that the contents are completely liquid. You then want to grab a strainer of some sort and pour the contents through it to strain the remaining grass out of your juice. If you are using some kind of mesh strainer, you want to fold the corners to make a bag with the pulp.

After, squeeze this bag of pulp over your glass to make sure you get all the juice that you possibly can. Now, that this is done you can throw away the pulp and enjoy your freshly made wheatgrass juice.

Closing Thoughts

After following these steps and tips, there is no way you won’t be drinking healthy fresh juice made from wheatgrass. The beauty in this is that everyone is capable of doing it. Good luck, and stay healthy!
