I’m Angela, and my husband and I are the proud new owners of “The Tolerant Vegan,” a food and lifestyle blog dedicated to exploring ‘near the intersection’ of the vegan and paleo diets.
Our blog is titled “The Tolerant Vegan” because we believe that a healthy and sustainable lifestyle is all about balance and being open to different perspectives. We’ve adopted aspects of both the vegan and paleo diets (but aren’t strict adherents to either), and we’re here to share our experiences and recipes with you. Fundamentally, we believe that nutritious, healthy food and great-tasting food aren’t mutually exclusive. We also see many commonalities in many of the most popular and widely-recommended diets, including a trend toward all-natural and whole foods as well as minimizing processed and ‘fast’ foods.
We believe that the vegan diet, which eliminates the use of animal products, is an ethical and environmentally responsible way to live. At the same time, we also believe that the paleo diet, which emphasizes whole, unprocessed foods, is a healthy and sustainable way to eat. By combining the best of both worlds, we aim to show that it is possible to have a healthy and delicious diet without compromising on taste or nutrition.
Our blog features a variety of recipes that are sometimes vegan-friendly and sometimes paleo-friendly (and sometimes both and sometimes neither), including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert options. We also write about our experiences with living the ‘near intersection’ of a vegan and paleo lifestyle and share tips and tricks for making it work. I grew up in New Orleans, and I’ve always been a ‘foodie’ with a love of great food (including wonderful cajun food and seafood). John has an MPH in Epidemiology from Harvard, so he usually tackles the nutrition and health topics.
We hope that our blog inspires you to be more tolerant of different dietary choices and encourages you to experiment with different types of foods. We believe that a balanced and varied diet is key to a healthy and happy lifestyle. Thanks for visiting, and we hope you enjoy our content!
