What are the health benefits of a banana berry smoothie?

The benefits a berry banana smoothie can bring will definitely depend on the types of berries you use. I most commonly use bananas and blueberries so will outline those benefits below.

But – raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries are also great options that will bring other unique benefits.

Blueberry is the champion in terms of vitamins C content. It is incredibly rich in antioxidants which makes it a significant ally in the fight against certain cancers.

So, the consumption of blueberries in the form of juice would help limit certain cancer cells. This includes those of the breast, prostate, intestine or stomach. Cranberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries are all foods to combat this type of disease as well.

In addition, the consumption of blueberries would help to limit the risks of cardiovascular disease (because they are rich in flavonoids), and would protect the body from the onset of diabetes.

Banana unfortunately does not have a very good reputation when it comes to talking about any “diet”. Yet, the antioxidant profile of a banana is very powerful. Using just one for your breakfast can help minimize your need for that morning snacking! I usually have a banana every day with my coffee and it can often hold me over until an early lunch.

Bronchitis sucks. A common virus, it will leave you coughing and filling your body with tons of mucus. In most cases, there are no medications to take and you will have to wait it out for it to pass.

The trick to get through it is to rest and fill your body with nourishing foods to help you heal. During my bouts with bronchitis, I do enjoy my keto electrolyte drink which helps keep me hydrated. I try to up my intake to once a day when I am sick.

You can also try our lemon garlic ginger or green juice drinks to get you through your illness.

Bronchitis Be Gone Berry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Listen, there are no guarantees that bronchitis will magically disappear by drinking this smoothie. The benefits lie in the many nutrients it brings that can help alleviate symptoms and allow your body to heal faster.

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries, strawberries or blueberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 3-4 cups spinach

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend thoroughly.

Honey is also highly recommended as a healing property and is very beneficial for coughing. Because it is not vegan, we did not add it to the ingredients, but if you are not vegan we highly recommend adding 2 tablespoons.
